Branding with Your Heart

Brand That Thing

While sitting at my computer preparing to write my next blog, I am thinking…”I need to create a new brand for my products.” And, yet I am still.

No, not without material because I have tons of blogging stuff waiting to be copied and pasted from my files; not with writers block because my creativity is truly flowing; but, in deep thought…yes, very deep thought.

You see this week has been an over-the-top rewarding week.  Not just a monetary reward, although that is good too.  It’s a soul fulfilling reward.

My heart is overflowing with joy.

My clients and mentees (the twenty-something women I help to get focused and guide them to becoming entrepreneurs) have been making some serious strives towards entrepreneurship and having fun doing it. I mean they are moving mountains! They are pushing those self-sabotaging boulders out of their way.

And so I sit.  I can’t move.  And then it happens.  You know.  That one tear that seems to always stream before you can grab the Kleenex. Except, I didn’t want to wipe this tear from my face for fear that if I did, the feeling would disappear along with the tear.

I wanted to keep feeling what it is like to build a business around what you love to do and have clients who believe in what you believe.  Is this what the founders of Nike felt like?

I knew in my heart that if they followed each step of my branding process and other marketing programs that I create, they will feel this paradigm shift in their soul to ignite their brand.

Before the tear…

For the past few weeks I have been going through my own transformation.  I was pretty frustrated.  I could not put a name to what I was teaching.  I have been beating my head up against the wall night after night.  And then it dawned on me.

Talking to myself…

“Denise, practice what you preach.  When you are stuck, when in doubt, when there are obstacles causing deep blockage…go back to your why.”

And so I did.

Deep breaths, slow, steady

Heart beating to the silence

Creativeness flows

The brand will come without a second thought.  All you have to do is open your heart.

I inspire entrepreneurs to reach deep inside their soul and journal their life’s experiences.  I help them to feel, to want, to have, to have not, to do, to be…and be grateful for it.  Then I show them how to take the creativeness of who they are and bring it to life. I teach them to open their heart to what is true of them…their true essence.

I longed for a name that paints the branding and marketing picture of what I do so uniquely.  I want to be remembered for THAT THING I do so well.  THAT THING that continues to give me the tingly feeling inside over and over again until my heart explodes with blissfulness.

In the now…

I am excited.  I have a couple of names in mind. But first, the research.

You see, the name does not really have to make sense to anyone, but you surely have to feel it.  The message, however, has to make sense to your perfect client. After all, that is who I am talking to.

Stay tuned to find out what I decide to call my new program and watch my brand transform.

Now, tell us what gives you that tingly feeling inside when you succeed in solving your clients problems.  What special moments come to mind that keep you doing what you love to do?

  1. Putting a name to the thing you do can take some time. As I continue on my entrepreneurial journey I understand more and more just how important branding is to a business. Thanks for sharing.

  2. i love your definition of brand, denise – “that thing that gives you the tingly feeling inside. . . no matter how many times you do it.” from that starting point, the rest will flow in the absolute right direction. thank you for a more intimate look at branding – helpful and inspiring.

  3. I completely relate. It can come so natural to coach clients on their ‘stuff’ but sometimes difficult to practice these things for ourselves. I also had one of those tear trickling moments yesterday. The kind that confirmed that I was on the right track-just like you. 🙂

    • Hi Donna, It takes me minutes to brand someone else. And weeks, even months, to do the magic on myself. But I think if we, coaches, remember that just being who you are and loving what you do for others…IS THE BRAND. And that is all that really matters.

  4. Yes! Yes! Yes! Love it! Who we are is the brand we were born with. We just need to find it and make it shine! Keep doing your work, it’s desperately needed so we can all benefit from our gifts.

  5. I truly don’t know what my brand would be. As a writer, I don’t have clients only those that read and follow my writings. What i get excited about is teaching about spiritual ideals and lifting the hearts, mind and spirits of another! That makes me happy! <3

  6. Thank you for your insight and wonderful reminder that what is important is to come from a place of true authenticity and be in your heart when you are leaping into your heart’s desire. Everything always follows, and the enthusiasm and inspiration is born in those priceless moments when you are divinely connected with creation.

  7. Great post! I love what you said about opening your heart. You definitely have to feel it. I’ve had a ton of branding experience in my past career and I always used my heart and intuition as a guide to do what’s right. Great reminder!

  8. Mmmm… such a great post Denise, I could feel it coming from your heart. I’m almost finished with my brand new website and I think it’s captured the essence of what I do and who I am. I get that “tingly” feeling inside when one of my clients has a break-through moment and sees a bit of “light” in spite of the darkness of their grief. This means the chains are beginning to fall away. It brings tears to my eyes to even think about it.
I love your website, it’s really beautiful! <3
