YOU UN-Interrupted

Taking time out for what you value most

Time management is by far one of the biggest issues women entrepreneurs have when starting their business or working from home.

I know, I know.  You thought…

This will be so easy because now I can be home with my family and have dinner prepared on time.

And, instead,

You are serving dinner in a box to your family 5 days a week.

This will be great, I can now have more time with my husband.

And, instead,

You keep telling your husband who is ready to retire for the night, “I’m coming, I’m coming” and you are up to 2am in the morning working on getting an email listing.

Maybe you have said to yourself…

I don’t need a babysitter, I will be a ‘work-at-home mom.’ It cant be that bad. This will be fun.

And, instead,

Your house is a wreck and you cant concentrate on building your website because the kids are making too much noise or require too much attention.

Well, I am here to tell you that it can be done.  When you put a system in place and STICK to it, your worries will no longer keep you up at night.  But first you must BLOCK out time for work and what is most important to you.  And I don’t mean checking emails every 5 minutes.  I mean stuff like MARKETING, CLIENTS and CUSTOMERS.

When you block out time for marketing and business you have an UN-Interrupted time block to be focused.  Do this for everything such as: cleaning the house, homework help with the kids, home-dating your husband every night (uninterrupted quality time).  And most importantly, ME TIME.  Please do not forget me time.  You need time for self-care and to wind down.

Also, schedule in days off.  These are days that you will absolutely, under no circumstance, conduct any type of business.  These are the days that you will let your clients know about, so, they do not expect a phone call or email response on your days off.

Tip: Treat your business like a 9-5 job.  Whatever you did after your 9-5, such as dropping clothes off at the cleaners or grocery shopping, you can also do after you set a designated time to CLOSE SHOP. Closing shop means you stop working, completely.  No business calling, no emailing, no Googling. Nada.

I close my shop at 4:00pm.  My undivided attention will be totally my family and my household. Oh and my dog, Nala.

So treat yourself to some UN-Interrupted time in your Life and Business.  Your goals will be much more obtainable when you can look at-a-glance to your daily, monthly and yearly schedule.

The ability to concentrate and to use your time well is everything if you want to succeed in business — or almost anywhere else for that matter. — Lee Iacocca

  1. Wonderful Article!! Right now… what matters most to me is clearing the life clutter. I need to practice your technique, so that I can truly figure out what does really matter to me. I am giving it one day at a time. Thanks for the help!

    • One day at a time is all it takes.Kimberly. You can tweak my technique to what works best for you.
