Remember the days when you begged your mom for a special cereal because you wanted the FREE toy inside. And, yet it wasn’t really free. Nope, your mom paid a price for you to get that toy and eat only one bowl of cereal from that ‘special box’. What do you think about that FREEBIE now?
You [the entrepreneur] are told to do the same thing with your gifts. Exchange them for information and then call it FREE. But, you want to give free products and services from the heart. It’s a natural trait. You want to change the world.
But once you transition into a business owner, giving seems sleazy because now you have to be strategic with your gift giving. In other words, the FREEBIES that you were told to call your GIFTS, aren’t really free. Hence…the beginning of the white lie.
Here is a different way of thinking about gift-giving so that you don’t block your efforts and blessings when attracting your audience.
Give more than one “freebie,” and only claim one of them as being FREE.
For example, if you are providing updates to your newsletter and giving an eBook in exchange for your audiences’ email address, just state one item as being FREE.
